493 Squadron are mounting a massive public relations drive this year, launching a brand new website 493squadron.awardspace.co.uk and a YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/493Squadron boasting 2 promotional videos and general video about cadets to help promote the squadron...
This large amount of work has been put in by the 493 squadron public relations team. CDT Davies (The Website & Video Specialist) CDT Wilson (The spellchecker) and CDT Deering (The Ideas man)
The website, a key part of the site was created by Cdt Davies who said, "As soon as someone found out that I had the skill of knowledge and website design, I was hooked into creating the squadron website. The past sites lacked design and information but I turned it around with cola, biscuits and a couple of hours sat on my PC!" The website wanted to be for cadets from cadets so the PR team asked new recruits what would get them interested in joining a squadron. Most said videos and the internet, as well as posters and friends.
So alongside the website, the PR team created a series of promotional videos, Camp Videos and News about what 493 have done and uploaded them to the popular video sharing site you tube with links to the site... this was a great Success...
493 Squadrons PR Team will continue to create more and more videos, to help promote the squadron site and the Air Training Corps
