Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary programme of practical and adventurous activities. It is designed to help young people aged 14-25 develop their personal and social skills.

What is the Award?

The Award is a programme of challenging activities that will help you to learn new skills and improve many others. With hours of work helping others you can get a great sense of achievement. Moreover, many employers and universities accept the award and it is a bonus to have on your CV.
What does it involve?
There are three levels, Bronze/Silver/Gold and for each one you need to complete activities in four different sections - Service/Skills/Physical Recreation and Expeditions. Expeditions require you to stay in a tent overnight and depending on what level you do decides how many days you have to camp.
At Gold level you also take part in a residential project. It could be something new or an activity that you already enjoy, the good news is that it is not an exam so you can not fail! The Award is about having a go and enjoying yourself, it is NOT a competition.
